Media Panic Over Only Three Injured Springboks a Bit Confusing

Bakkies Botha is probably the most valuable player
but the Bokke will be fine without him on Sunday.

Three elite players are injured four days before South Africa plays Wales, but is there a need to make such a big fuss about it? The South African media is going bananas over injury reports from the Bok camp in Wellington, New Zealand? Headlines such as “Crisis in Springbok camp” and “Bok injury list expands” can be seen pasted on walls and lamp posts on some of our biggest cities. What the hell? It’s only three people!

Bryan Habana, Victor Matfield and Bakkies Botha are the only “first choice” players who will probably not start the game against the Red Dragons of Wales on Sunday. Where’s the crisis in that?

Don’t get me wrong these lads are very valuable but we are playing Wales. As much as they are said to be our biggest challenge during the group stages, these guys only beat us once in a hundred and five years.

Most of the players who were injured on the day of the Bok world cup squad announcement are ready and will be in action on Sunday. Francois Steyn and Patrick Lambie took a full part in training without any negative reaction to the injuries they suffered in the 18-5 victory over New Zealand in Port Elizabeth a few weeks ago.

The South African the team consists of thirty players and not just three players so let’s have more than just a little faith in the boys that will be on the pitch on Sunday and know that we will beat Wales.
